Enabling concurrent builds on Gerrit job

Jayaprakash Arthanareeswaran
Hello everyone,

We have been having severe backlog of jdt-core gerrit jobs over the past few days and it is taking forever to get a build
scheduled and even if one gets a run, there's no guarantee that the change can be pushed. What is complicating is that
a job needs almost two hours to complete.

To address this, I have enabled concurrent builds once again. We have had issues with this set up, but I think it's worth trying at this point. Let me know anyone has any concerns.

Regards,
Jay

Jay, do we know what changed to cause this?

We have quite a few bugs lined up for 4.7.2 and people actively working on those.

I would say, it is good enough if we had run the tests once and seen green and that we have the necessary
reviews.

Jay

Now I see a number of jobs timed out. Could that be related?

There also seems to be a conflict with concurrent jobs and:

Okay, that didn't go well. Not a single job succeeded and looks like it's the BuilderTests that is causing most of the failures. Need to be looked at in details. Anyway, I will revert the job configuration change.

At this point, I would advice people to go ahead with the commit if you have seen a green and have the necessary +1s.

Re: Enabling concurrent builds on Gerrit job

Stephan Herrmann-2
For once I gave the job a bit more time to increase chances for
at least one successful build:
  elastic 200% -> 250%
  absolut 180  -> 210

Re: Enabling concurrent builds on Gerrit job

Stephan Herrmann-2
we had ONE successful build since Monday.
That build finished in 1 h 31 min,
so it seems our code cannot be blamed, can it?

The current job is running since more the 3hrs already.

At the same time, JDT/UI doesn't seem to have this problem.

Any theory what's killing us here?

Stephan
