Failing JDT Core gerrits

Jayaprakash Arthanareeswaran
Hello all,

I noticed the jdt.core gerrits for master have started failing since yesterday. I am unable figure out much from the log [1].
Trying to get to the first point this started happening is also difficult since some builds have since been deleted.
I have posted my comments on the below gerrit which may have been the first point that we started seeing the failure.

The other possibly relevant thing that happened in same timeline is the change to tycho via

If you happen to have some clue, please let me know.

Regards,
Jay

Tycho change is only for 2.0.0 Snapshot and jdt master builds with 1.7.0 so this can't be related.

If you happen to have some clue, please let me know.

Hi,

The most, but not so interesting part of the log is "An error has occurred. See the log file /home/jenkins/agent/workspace/eclipse.jdt.core-Gerrit/org.eclipse.jdt.core.tests.model/target/work/configuration/1591869525682.log.". But unfortunately, this file is not persisted so it cannot be investigated.
Please configure the CI job so it also archives `*/target/work/configuration/*.log` and such logs files should then become accessible and it will be much easier to find the cause & solution with them.

HTH

Thanks, Roland!

Good! So, it appears that the last changes to the job configuration is working.
The log says we are unable to resolve org.apache.maven.surefire.junitplatform, but also found in the
log is errors like below:
org.osgi.framework.BundleException: Could not resolve module: org.eclipse.team.core [113]
  Another singleton bundle selected: osgi.identity; osgi.identity="org.eclipse.team.core"; type="osgi.bundle"; version:Version="3.8.1100.v20200607-0846"; singleton:="true"

There are other test bundles with same dependency but don't seem to have any issue.

Just like that, without any intervention, the builds have started working again.
If anyone knows what's going on, please share it here - it will be useful for future investigation.

Re: Failing JDT Core gerrits

I took a quick look and noticed the following in the logs.

Note that both builds fetched
org.eclipse.team.core_3.8.1100.v20200607-0846.jar.pack.gz from
https://download.eclipse.org/eclipse/updates/4.17-I-builds/I20200609-0150/plugins/

In the failing build,

16:32:50 [INFO] --- tycho-surefire-plugin:1.7.0:test (default-test) @ org.eclipse.jdt.core.tests.model ---

So likely 'Another singleton bundle selected' is referring to the fact
that 3.8.1000 was present and so 3.8.1100 couldn't be resolved.

Re: Failing JDT Core gerrits

Looks like it works again: https://ci.eclipse.org/jdt/job/eclipse.jdt.core-Gerrit/

Did someone fix it?
