Setting up a development environment

Nathan Ridge
Hi,

I would like to try to contribute a fix for bug 413505 [1]. I have contributed to CDT before, but not to Platform.

I followed the instructions on this page [2] to set up a development environment. However, after following those instructions, the resulting Eclipse workspace is empty (there are no projects in it), and I don't see any instructions for how to set up projects.

Am I missing something? Should I be following different instructions?

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks,
Nate

Hi Nathan,

I typically simply import the projects via the Git repository view (right mouse click -> Import).

Does this work for you?

Best regards, Lars

Thanks, that gave me the projects.

However, the workspace now contains 120,000 errors, including ones
like "The import org.eclipse.core.runtime cannot be resolved". Any
suggestions on how to resolve those?

Thanks,
Nate

Clean all projects might help otherwise check the target platform. A recent i-build is required.

That didn't help.

Could you say more about this? My target platform is set to "Modular Target". I tried reloading it (that has helped fix similar issues with CDT development in the past), but that didn't help. What is an i-build?

Thanks,
Nate

Re: Setting up a development environment

Wim Jongman-2
An integration build builds the complete platform on a daily basis [1]. You can add this cumulative repo [2] as your target platform or use a specific daily build like this one [3]
